My name is Damian Rogers
I was born in 1982, the same year that EPCOT Center opened in Florida, compact discs debuted on consumer market, and Michael Jackson's Thriller was released to critical acclaim. So all around a pretty good year. Since that time I've developed a keen interest in software engineering, Japanese culture and history, and photography. I now live in Kobe, Japan where I continue those interests. Here are some of the projects I work on.
System/Web Dev
My first taste of programming came in the form of copying BASIC programs from books and magazines into my Atari 600XL as a child. These days I work with systems languages such as C/C++ and Java, as well as some web-oriented languages like JavaScript and PHP.
SUDDEN DESU
Like any other 90's kid, I loved video games. I was especially fascinated with level select codes and other hidden aspects of the games. This interest progressed into the more technical side of that era of gaming, and I now do disassemblies of retro-era arcade games to find long-forgotten codes, disabled developer tools and unused content.
Five Yen Coin
I was the quintessential otaku during my high school years in the late 1990s, and while I've outgrown my enthusiasm for anime, my interest in Japanese history and culture (and language and food and music...) remains. In particular, I have a fondness for Shinto shrines and mythology, as well the unique aesthetic of late Showa, "Bubble Era" popular media. I maintain a blog where I write about my Japanese related interests.
